A WEDDING GIFT

Ah sweet love! I just returned from a Kentucky journey featuring the wedding of my lovely niece Sarah and her wonderful beau Chris...full of enthusiasm and adventure and love, now creating their life together, giving everyone who knows them incredible faith in our future generation. Sarah has an affinity for travel, is fluent in Spanish, is super creative, and oh so caring. Chris, an ensign in the navy, is bright, artistic and connects with EVERYONE. They are a great couple.
So this little piece I had hanging around was perfectly suited for these newlyweds who I think will be in love for a long, long time.

MEXICAN ICE DYES

We tried our hand at ice dyes last week. Rosemary and Donna were over for a dye day and I just had to show them how its done. I made a quick trip to the local farmacia for a bag of ice and we each set up our tubs with soda ashed fabric, ice and powdered dye. The results are always so fun to see!

Here's a close-up of one of our pieces:

P.S. There's nothing special about Mexican ice dyes. It was done here in Mazatlan on one of our typical warm days. I kept the tubs in the shade so they wouldn't melt too fast.

A TIE DYE PHASE

Lately I've been in a tie dye phase. I have two young women on my street who are expecting babies, and because that is my standard baby gift here, I made a few baby rompers and just kept on going. Being the holiday season, I found a few recipients for more shirts, and one for me too. And then I needed a tablecloth for my new patio table. Tie dye is wonderful for babies and tablecloths because it hides all the stains. I think that's good for me too!

I'm having trouble uploading photos tonight so I guess I'll stop here. Other recipients are the orange juice guy on the corner (great little orange orbs on a blue background!), my zumba teacher and two soon to be born babies! And let's not forget the panties Rachel dyed last week...we called them her power undies!Maybe I'll get my photo selector back soon!
